POW/ MIA
Encouragement and support for Americans who are captured or missing as a result of wartime efforts — and for their families — are deeply felt. Because their whereabouts and conditions are unknown, they can be recognized and honored, but not memorialized. Thus, the POW/MIA flag stands in as a beacon of the vigilant effort and commitment to account for each American to the fullest extent possible.
A POW, prisoner of war, is any person who is held captive by a belligerent power during or immediately after an armed conflict. Usage of the term dates back to the 17th century.
An MIA, a person missing in action, is one whose whereabouts are unknown as a result of armed conflict.
LIBERTY FLAGS, The American Wave® is honored to offer an array of POW/ MIA flags, gifts, and gear, designed especially for United States Armed Forces service members, veterans, and proud families.
