As of this writing, the President of the United States has not issued a half-staff proclamation in honor of former Vice President Dick Cheney, who passed away on November 3, 2025.
The Office of the Governor of the State of Oklahoma has issued an Executive Order requiring United States and Oklahoma flags on state property to fly at half-staff until sunset on November 7, 2025 in honor of Dick Cheney, and reads as follows:
Executive department Executive Order 2025-20
"I, J. Kevin Stitt, Governor of the State of Oklahoma, hereby direct the appropriate steps be taken to fly all American and Oklahoma flags on State property at half-staff from the time that this order is filed until 5:00 p.m. on Friday, November 7, 2025, to honor the life, legacy, and service of former United States Vice President Richard “Dick” Cheney.
His life is one marked by public service. He served as the CEO of Halliburton, an oil and gas company founded in Oklahoma, the White House Chief of Staff, the United States House of Representatives, United States Secretary of Defense, and the United States Vice President. In passing, he is survived by his wife and daughters.
This executive order shall be forwarded to the Division of Capital Assets Management, who shall cause the provisions of this order to be implemented by all appropriate agencies of state government.
