Half-staff Notification in Honor of Dick Cheney

As of this writing, the President of the United States has not issued a half-staff proclamation in honor of former Vice President Dick Cheney, who passed away on November 3, 2025.Please read this notification in its entirety.

According to the United States Flag code, Section 7 (m):

"... By order of the President, the flag shall be flown at half-staff upon the death of principal figures of the United States Government... The flag shall be flown at half-staff... ten days from the day of death of the Vice-President..."

Please be reminded that the United States Flag Code is not a law and is not enforceable. In the event that a half-staff proclamation is or is not made, such action exclusively impacts locations within federal jurisdiction. As such, businesses and citizens are not obliged to follow or wait upon a presidential half-staff proclamation.

Therefore:

In accordance with the United States Flag Code and in anticipation of the President's proclamation, in honor of former Vice President, Dick Cheney ; It is appropriate for United States flags to be lowered to half-staff until sunset on the later of November 13, 2025, or the date of interment.
