PENNSYLVANIA

100% American-made Pennsylvania State Flags

In 1775, the Congressional Congress met in Independence Hall in Philadelphia, where they drafted the Declaration of Independence, sparking the American Revolution.

On December 12, 1787, Pennsylvania became the second state to ratify the U.S. Constitution, five days after Delaware had done so.

Named to honor Admiral William Penn and his son, Pennsylvania's founder William Penn, Pennsylvania is now the sixth most-populous state in the Nation.

The State Coat of Arms, originally designed by Caleb Lownes in 1778, sits in the center of the Pennsylvania State Flag on a blue background. The coat of arms is surrounded on either side by a draft horse, with an eagle resting on top. A scroll near the bottom reads “Virtue, Liberty, and Independence”. Originally authorized in 1799 by the general assembly, the current Pennsylvania State Flag was standardized on June 13, 1907, requiring that the blue background of the flag match the blue of the United States Flag.
